Empowering lives in dajabon

Running along the border of Northwest Haiti, lies a community in need of health assistance. In April, Emergency Project set out to make a significant difference in the lives of the people in Dajabon, Dominican Republic.

The Gift of Mobility: Michael's Journey

Thanks to a generous donation from Rifton Equipment and the dedication of our volunteers, we were able to bring a gait-trainer to 8-year-old Michael, who suffers from spastic cerebral palsy. Michael's condition had confined him to a wheelchair, preventing him from experiencing the simple joy of walking like his peers. This innovative device provided crucial support to Michael's legs, enabling him the capacity to walk for the first time in his life. Not only did Michael walk, but he immediately took off running. The joy and sense of accomplishment on Michael's face as he took his first steps were immeasurable.

Caring for the Community: Capotillo

Healthcare access had long been a pressing concern for the people of Capotillo, Dominican Republic, with many lacking access to essential health resources. By collaborating with Americares and Clinica Rural Capotillo, the organization was able to assist in caring for patients in the community as well as providing over $150,000 worth of medications and supplies that will help prevent potentially life-threatening complications.
