David Cuthbert, MD Co-Founder, Director of Education
Dr. David Cuthbert brings a wealth of experience and passion to Emergency Project as one of the co-founders and the Director of Education. An emergency physician with a deep commitment to global health, Dr. Cuthbert has served with EP on missions in Jordan and the Dominican Republic, where he has provided critical care to underserved communities and led efforts to empower local healthcare providers. As an expedition doctor, his work spans both polar regions, including Antarctica and the Arctic in Svalbard, where he has navigated the challenges of delivering healthcare in some of the harshest environments on Earth. He has publications contributing to the fields of emergency and wilderness medicine, and is dedicated to advancing knowledge in austere and remote care.
Before entering medicine, Dr. Cuthbert served as a Marine Corps infantryman, completing two tours in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. His military service instilled in him a profound sense of duty, discipline, and resilience, which he channels into his humanitarian and educational efforts. At Emergency Project, Dr. Cuthbert combines his unique blend of clinical expertise, leadership, and expeditionary experience to help transform lives in the world's most challenging settings. His work exemplifies the organization's mission of bringing life-saving care to those who need it most while fostering sustainable healthcare solutions for the future.
