ABOUT US

a new approach to global health

Founded in 2021, Emergency Project is dedicated to transforming global health by addressing critical gaps in healthcare access. Through strategic partnerships and the advanced tools of modern emergency medicine, we deliver life-saving care, empower local providers, and enhance medical services in regions facing the greatest health inequities. Our teams have led impactful humanitarian missions in Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Ukraine, Pakistan, Jordan, and Zimbabwe, bringing hope and healing to underserved communities worldwide.

our challenge

half of global deaths stem from insufficient emergency care

Organized emergency care does not exist in most of our world! Meanwhile 15 of the leading causes of death globally have emergent manifestations.

20% of lower middle income countries are without an organized 911 system

2/3 of humanity is without access to diagnostic imaging

1/3 of the world is without access to emergency medications

OUR MISSION

Emergency Project’s mission is to bridge gaps in global health through humanitarian work that integrates the foundations of emergency medicine - while finding communities in need, then providing direct assistance and continuity of care through partnerships. Our team of doctors, PAs, nurses, paramedics, and nonclinical volunteers organize free health clinics while providing patients and local staff with the resources and training necessary to create the largest impact possible, utilizing the practical utility of modern day emergency medicine.

USE EMERGENCY MEDICINE TO CHANGE THE WORLD!

Our impact

In three short years, EP has delivered life-saving healthcare and fostered sustainable change in underserved communities worldwide. From establishing clinics in rural Guatemala to addressing the dire health needs for Haitian and nearby communities in the Dominican Republic, we’ve partnered with regional organizations to provide diagnostics, free medications, and compassionate care.

Beyond these efforts, EP has supported refugee evacuations in Ukraine, delivered care to thousands in Pakistan’s Swat Valley, and advanced emergency medicine education in Jordan while serving thousands of refugees on each mission. In Zimbabwe, we extended our reach to the remote mountains of Chimanimani, bringing advanced diagnostic tools and ongoing local support. Across the globe, we’re transforming lives through care, innovation, and education.

FAQs

  • Emergency Project’s mission is to bridge the gaps in global health through humanitarian work that integrate the core principles of emergency medicine. Our teams of dedicated volunteers find communities in need, then provide direct assistance and continuity of care through ongoing partnerships, utilizing the practical utility of modern day emergency medicine.

  • Emergency Project is an organization led mostly by a team of experienced emergency medicine practitioners. Our focus is to assist communities in-need who have been impacted by some of the most concerning issues confronting humanity. Whether it be climate change, conflict, famine, or natural disaster; it’s our belief that emergency medicine as a specialty has the potential to make the largest impact to those with the greatest need.

  • EP was birthed from the the simple fact that most human deaths result from inadequate emergency medical care around the world, most notably in lower income nations (54% in 2019 alone according to the World Health Organization). With Emergency Medicine as a specialty unacknowledged in most of our world, the WHO is now claiming that “It is vital that the world now seizes the chance to do things differently.” And that there is a “welcome sense of urgency to efforts to strengthen the way the world prepares for, prevents, detects, and responds to health emergencies”

It’s a part of our mission to do things differently by addressing these urgent needs while on our humanitarian missions. Our goal is to learn from the mistakes of the past when addressing global issues, to make the greatest impact possible using our skills as emergency providers.

  • Our missions are a mutually beneficial experience for both the communities we serve and the volunteers on our teams. Extensive literature suggests that the greatest limitation to the advancement of emergency medicine as a specialty is physician burnout in high and middle income nations. Volunteerism and global health work are proven to counteract this pressing issue. We at EP make it one of our highest priority to include team-building and wellness activities that are a cultural and therapeutic experience for our team as well.

  • Most of EPs funding comes from healthcare related Corporate Foundations, individual donors related to our cause, and mission aligned partner organizations.
